25/11/2005: Ministerial eGovernment Conference
The Ministerial eGovernment Conference in Manchester held under the UK presidency on 24-25 November was very successful. 25 ministerial delegations along with Commissioners Reding and Kallas were present. Several eTEN projects were also represented; ePOLL, eSeveso, MAP, NetCards and Riser were featured at the EC stand. 18/11/2005: NETC@RDS for eEHIC at the WSIS
At the United Nations' World Summit for the Information Society on 16-18 November 2005 in Tunis, the French Ministry for Health and Social Security presented on its stand the project 'Netcards for eEHIC' as an example for an eHealth application.
In this project, providers of health insurance and health care from ten Member States demonstrate and pilot solutions for the interoperability of electronic health insurance cards. The project participants have developed a multilateral agreement between themselves and technical solutions, allowing to use the electronic health insurance cards in all participating countries. These solutions can provide experience and input for the further steps to an electronic version of the European Health Insurance Card.

24/10/05: NETC@RDS for eHIC Project at eChallenges e2005 - Ljubljana 19/21 October 2005
The eChallenge 2005 took place in the beautiful city of Ljubljana form 19 to 21 October 2005. Focusing on eBusiness, eGovernment, Organisational Knowledge, eWork, eEurope beyond 2005 and ICT take up by SMEs, the e-2005 was addressed to stimulate rapid take up in Europe of RTD results and to help the European Research area to the rest of the world.
The NETC@RDS for eEHIC was exhibited at the dedicated demonstration stand and presented in a parallel session on eHealth & European Health Insurance Card. The demonstration stand hosted the presentation of the on-line NETC@RDS portals and applets performing validation of data captured by national/regional smart cards through a reader or EHIC cards through an optical scanning device.
More than 400 delegates form EU and other countries attended the conferences and exhibition sharing views and experiences and networking their activities.

18/06/05: NETC@RDS for eEHIC project at the "Impact Analysis and Perspectives of the European Health Insurance Card" International Workshop - Brussels 28/29 June 2005
The NETC@RDS for eEHIC project has been presented at the International Workshop "Impact Analysis and Perspectives of the European Health Insurance Card" as an experience underway in the field of data processing and electronification of the European Health Insurance Card. The Workshop, organised by Regione del Veneto, with the support of the European Commission and the CA.SS.TM, has focused on the impacts generated by the use of the new card, one year after the official introduction of the European Health Insurance Card, with particular references to the principles of direct access to health care services, patient mobility and access to information.

30/05/05: NETC@RDS for EHIC Midterm Workshop

The “NETC@RDS for eEHIC” project Mid-Term Workshop took place at Desenzano del Garda Hospital (Italy) on the 19th of May 2005. More than one-hundred delegates from national and European organisations attended the workshop devoted to disseminate the intermediate results achieved by the project and the future steps addressing the full roll-out of the national pilot-sites to be installed in the EU countries covered by the project.
The workshop involved representatives of national institutions and government bodies acting in the health and insurance cards domain, providing an extensive overview of status of implementation of the European Health and Insurance Card (EHIC) in the different member States, also identifying opportunities and challenges in deploying e-health services for citizens and healthcare providers.
Project partners illustrated the main outcomes originated by the initiative and how these encounter the Community priorities in the EHIC and in further developments through the eEHIC. European Commission officers from DG INFSO and DG EMPL introduced the Community reference frameworks and the EU initiatives undertaken on this priority. Representative of National Ministries of Health from France, Germany and Italy pointed out status of affairs in their countries with regard to this theme. National and regional delegates from Estonia, Poland and Spain (Region Catalonia) contributed to the discussion sharing views and experiences coming from EU member States other than countries covered by the project.

18/05/05: Regione Lombardia Pilot Sites have been launched
Three new NETC@RDS pilots sites have been launched in Regione Lombardia (Italy). These new pilot sites increase the total number of pilot sites initiated by the NETC@RDS for eEHIC project and now made operational in four countries: Greece, Germany, France and Italy. The official start of the Regione Lombardia pilots took place on 18 th May 2005 at Desenzano del Garda Healthcare Management Unit, one of the three hospitals where the NETC@RDS solution has been installed. A press conference took place in Desenzano for informing media and newspapers of the initiative at the presence of Mr. Claudio Beretta, Head of Unit – Research and Technological Innovation Dept., DG Health – Regione Lombardia, and Mr. Mauro Borelli, General Director of the Healthcare Management Unit. Other pilot sites have been launched in Gavardo and Manerbio Hospitals (Garda Lake District). Regione Lombardia will launch last two regional pilot sites in Lecco Province by the end of May 2005.
11/3/05: On the 2nd of March, 2005, a new NETC@RDS pilot-site was launched in Germany
The German pilot was officially opened on 2 March 2005 in Freiburg at Universitätsklinikum at the presence of Mr. Reinhold Mainz, German Ministry of Health and Social Affairs; Mr. Achim Klabunde European Commission, Dr. Thorsten von Podewils, Director of the Uni-Klinikum; Dr. Brenner, Zentralinstitut für die kassenärztliche Versorgung in der BRD and Dr. Rolf Hoberg, Director of the AOK Baden-Württemberg. A new challenge is now taken on by the German piloting phase: the extension of the NETC@RDS solution to the forthcoming World Football Championship 2006.

07/03/05: NETC@RDS for eEHIC project: A Success Story!
On 21 February 2005, at European Commission premises in Brussels, the NETC@RDS for eEHIC project has been invited to present its results and achievements in the frame of a press conference organised by Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Ms. Viviane Reding. The briefing was focused on 3 success EU funded projects based on novel technologies implementation and innovative instruments for citizens and business. 07/03/05: NETC@RDS for eEHIC project - Phase A3 has started
On 18 February 2005, in Brussels, the project consortium and the European Commission signed the contract for the the start-up of the A3 phase of the NETC@RDS for eEHIC project. This phase will make operational the launch of new project pilot-sites in further EU countries. Pilot-site implementation will be extended to Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. 01/03/05: NETC@RDS for eHIC Midterm Workshop
NETC@RDS for eEHIC project has come to midterm. Consortium partners are committed to share the achieved results through the communities of stakeholders involved in the e-Health sector.
In order to create a permanent forum of knowledge grouping different players representative a Workshop will be organised to address important issues related to the technological, administrative and operational aspects of the launch and distribution of an European Health and Insurance Card and its electronification.
The Workshop will be supported by the Commission of the European Communities and organised by Regione Lombardia in collaboration with the NETC@RDS for eEHIC project partners and will take place in Desenzano del Garda (Region Lombardia - Italy) on the 19th of May 2005.

22/02/05: NETC@RDS for eHIC
The NETC@RDS for eEHIC project has been invited to the launch of the IDABC Programme as success story of cross-border services implementation for public administrations and citizens. The project has been presented in the frame of the parallel session “Citizens service requirements” of the IDABC Opening Conference held in Brussesl on 17-18 February 2005.
